J68 68640

Designed and built for intensive London suburban traffic, No. 68640 spent her final years with her condensing apparatus stripped away, pottering around Lowestoft.

Powered through an ABC gearbox, No. 68640 is finished in the typical down-at-heel condition that most ex-GE workaday locos could be found in during the 1950s.

  1. Great stuff!

I particularly like the W&UT photo; many years ago I built a tram loco (www.davidlosmith.co.uk/W&UT_Tram_engine.htm) and Van No. 9 (www.davidlosmith.co.uk/WUT-No9.htm); I also started the bogie (No.8) and 4-wheel (No.6) coaches and Van No. 16, which I must finish one day!
